Laying the Groundwork for Data Driven Success

When applying for a grant, statistics give you the ability to tell your story with insight, credibility and creativity. By attending this workshop, you will gain a practical understanding of key U.S. Census data sources essential for grant research and how to access and use them. Participants will be able to:

•Understand the difference between Census, American Community Survey (ACS) and Population Estimate data sets

•Understand Census Bureau geographies

•Understand the difference between 1-, 3-, and 5-year ACS estimates

•Use Census Explore and the Census Flows Mapper mapping tools to access data

•Use Quick Facts, My Congressional District and other census data-access tools

•Access American FactFinder to conduct detailed data searches and map your data
